Root Canal Treatment (RCT)

How a teeth is infected?
When you have an infection in somewhere on your body, your body sends white blood cells and antibodies to the infected area to kill the bacteria giving the tissue a rise to become red and swell. But at the time you have an infection in your teeth, there exists no room in the canal space for extra antibodies or white blood cells. Therefore, when the tissue tries to swell, it clogs to die itself, causing a constant source of infection a.k.a tooth abscess, getting scattered into the bone tissue around the end of the tooth.

What is Root Canal Treatment (RCT)?
If the nerve of your tooth becomes infected by decay or damaged by trauma and the tooth has lost its ability to restore the external material in its tiny cavity over the surface, then the only way to protect your teeth is to carry on a root canal treatment (the technical term is endodontic treatment) which  is the dental procedure to remove and cleans out the entire damaged internal part of the root canal, especially the pulp chamber of the tooth. This procedure mainly involves the process of removing the affected tooth by the action of microbes and other physical conditions together with  filling of the empty cavity with the artificially prepared material.
Why this procedure is known as ‘root canal therapy’ is because it mainly deals with the root canal of the teeth. This treatment greatly helps when the tooth’s entire pulp and its contents are fully decayed by the action of microbes. These root canal procedures are generally done by the dentists who are specialized in the field of Endodontist

How to do a Root Canal Treatment ?

For a successful completion of root canal therapy, following steps should have to be sequentially processed through.
  1. Examination of the physical status of tooth by dentist clearly and then taking a decision whether he or she has to be done the tooth decay treatment or not.
  2. After the decision is concluded with the experiment, the tooth region where the root canal treatment has to be applied on is separated form the remaining part by means of a rubber sheet that is fitted using the clips and the clamps around the tooth that has to be treated. The key purpose of having a methodology is to let the dentist to undergo the treatment easily without any mixing of saliva and other fluids in the mouth.
  3. The root canal files are used now to clean the whole decayed tooth by gradually increasing the thickness of the files being used as they pass through the roots and thus help to remove the entire pulp of the decayed tooth.
  4. Filling the cavity with sealer material to the very end of the apex of the teeth in order to fill the temporary material into the emptied space and giving the soothing medicine so that it prevents the spreading of the infection to the remaining parts while stopping the occurrence of the same infection on any other parts.
  5. Filling the canal with either a synthetic substance or cement filling which is naturally bio-compatible.

Is Root Canal Treatment a painful experience?
In general, this treatment is not a difficult experience for the patient and the pain after a root canal is often not a large issue in comparison with the tooth extraction appointment which is the most displeased experience for the patient, by far. Many of these appointments are very easy and also with some patients, no need to have even Novocain (Anesthetic) to keep the patient comfortable in case that the tooth is already dead and has no any feeling in it. But some people are so afraid of endodontic treatment that they choose to have a tooth extracted instead, which ends up being much more stressful for them than if they had the dentist save the tooth.

How to do a Heart Bypass Surgery (CABG) ?

Cabbage which stands for Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) is a surgical operation to reduce the potential risk of a person from death by critical heart attack. Cabbage surgery is done by stopping the performance of heart and artificially pumping blood using special set of machines. This is called "off-pumping".
Coronary Artery, by what the blood is supplied to heart muscle can be clogged by either fat, cholesterol or any other substances giving rise to slow or stop the blood flow to the heart vessels. This causes heart attack or chest pain.

Coronary Arteries of Heart

How the operation is processed??
The completion of the bypass surgery takes up-to 4-5 hours in general and the operation is carried out by well-practiced surgeons to reduce the risk. In this surgery, a healthy blood vessel segment is taken from another part of the body and wrapped around the blocked part of coronary artery.
In this surgery, first an artery from the chest wall is detached and that open end is attached to the coronary artery below the blocked area. Then a segment of a long vein from your leg is taken for sewing one end of the vein above the blocked area while the other end is attached/grafted to the coronary artery below the blocked area. Then, this new path free from clogging becomes the flow of blood to the heart muscles.
